Growing Food Hydroponically: Aerogarden Style

Updated: Jan 17

This is absolutely one of my favorite ways to grow food in the kitchen! Meet the Aerogarden. I've introduced so many people to this easy-to-use hydroponic system, and they all love it! It is a popular indoor gardening system that allows people to grow fresh herbs, vegetables, and flowers right in their homes. This system uses hydroponic technology (water) to grow plants without soil, providing a hassle-free and convenient way to maintain a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. So, let's get down to the nitty gritty details, I know that you are all looking for right?

We are going to explore the benefits & answer some common questions such as:

  • Is it worth the money?

  • How much does it cost per month?

  • How many times can you harvest Aerogarden?

  • How often do you have to replace pods in Aerogarden?

Aerogarden Is Easy & Convenient

One of the most significant benefits of the Aerogarden is its convenience. With this system, you can grow fresh herbs, vegetables, and flowers year-round without worrying about weather conditions or pests. The hydroponic technology used by Aerogarden allows plants to grow up to five times faster than they would in soil, which means you can enjoy fresh produce all year round. This is especially helpful for people who live in apartments or have limited outdoor space. I continue all my herb growing throughout the winter right in my kitchen, you can't beat that!

Another benefit of the Aerogarden is its EASE of use. And I mean ridiculously easy! The system is straightforward to set up and comes with all the necessary components, including the LED light, water pump, and seed pods. The LED light is specially designed to provide the optimal spectrum of light for plant growth, and the water pump ensures that plants receive the proper amount of water and nutrients. Additionally, the seed pods come pre-seeded, so you don't have to worry about starting your plants from scratch. You do also have the option to buy separate pods to use your own seeds if you want.

Is the Aerogarden worth the money?

Here's a big question - Is the Aerogarden worth the money? The answer depends on your gardening needs and preferences, but in my experience I would say YES every time. The Aerogarden can be a bit pricey upfront, but it can save you money in the long run by allowing you to grow your produce instead of buying it from the store. Also, I've had mine for at least 7 years with no problems. As long as you clean it regularly and take care of it, it will be worth the money.

How many times can you harvest Aerogarden?

You can harvest the Aerogarden multiple times, depending on the plant you are growing. Most plants will produce several harvests before they need to be replanted. Herbs are fantastic and last a while as long as you keep them properly trimmed. I find that they are in there so long that I actually have to pick up the pods and trim the roots once in a while. Salad greens can last a while to as long as you don't harvest the whole thing all at once. So the answer really depends on what you are growing to be honest.

How often do you have to replace pods in Aerogarden? The Aerogarden pods last for about six months, depending on the plant's growth rate and how often you harvest them. After six months, you will need to replace the pods.

How much does Aerogarden cost per month?

The cost of the Aerogarden varies depending on the model and size you choose. However, on average, the cost of running an Aerogarden per month is around $10 to $20, which includes the cost of electricity and seed pod replacements.

In conclusion, the Aerogarden is an excellent investment for anyone looking to grow their produce conveniently and sustainably. The benefits of the system include convenience, ease of use, and the ability to grow fresh produce year-round. While the initial cost of the Aerogarden may be a bit high, it can save you money in the long run and provide you with delicious, healthy produce right in your own home.
