From Garden to Gorgeous: Cultivate Healthy Hair Growth Naturally

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

How can what you grow in your garden help you achieve hair growth? Everyone desires luscious locks of hair right? However, not everyone is blessed with fast-growing hair, and many people struggle to achieve the length they desire. While there is no magic solution that will make your hair grow 4" in 1 week (despite what the internet says), there are some natural methods that can help speed up the process of hair growth. These are methods I have tried and got great results!

Here are some tips on how to grow your hair faster naturally:

Start with a healthy diet

Your diet plays a crucial role in the health of your hair. Eating a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of protein, vitamins (I take these vitamins), and minerals can help promote hair growth. Foods that are rich in protein, such as eggs, chicken, fish, and beans, can help strengthen hair follicles and promote growth. Foods that are high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as biotin and iron, can also help improve the health of your hair. So that means plant more sweet potato, spinach, carrots & maybe some berry bushes to start with.

Massaging your scalp

Sounds amazing right? It is! Massaging your scalp can help stimulate blood flow to your hair follicles, which can help promote hair growth. You can use your fingertips to massage your scalp for a few minutes every day. How do you level up that massage? You can make your own infused hair oil to stimulate the scalp by using plants such as Rosemary, Fenugreek, and Peppermint with Jojoba and Castor oil base. Tip: Make sure to use only dried herbs when infusing into oil.

To learn more on how to make your own infused herbal oils, read another post of mine on the subject.

If you would like to skip the DIY herbal infusions you can buy Essential Oils such as Peppermint, Rosemary, & Fennel (interchangeable with Fenugreek) and it can help promote hair growth. You can mix a few drops of these oils into a carrier oil and massage the mixture into your scalp. Leave it on for an hour or so, then wash your hair as normal.

Avoid heat styling

I know it's hard for some, and I have learned my lesson with this one. Heat styling tools such as flat irons, curling irons, and hair dryers can damage the ends of your hair and slow down the growth process - it will keep braking at the ends and you won't notice growth happening. Try to limit your use of these tools, and when you do use them, use a heat protectant spray to minimize damage. Personally, I've tried my best to learn how to work with my naturally curly hair, rather than to force it straight all the time. It has not been easy, but it is worth it!

Don't wash your hair too often

Washing your hair too often can strip it of its natural oils, which can slow down the growth process. Try to wash your hair every other day or every three days, and use a sulfate-free shampoo to avoid stripping your hair of its natural oils. Additionally, to avoid breakage, it's best to avoid combing wet hair as it is more fragile when wet.

These tips are things that have helped my hair grow healthier and faster. I hope that they will help you too! Leave me a comment to share your hair growth journey. We can all learn from each other.
